Robogals shall exist to substantially increase the number of young women pursuing engineering in their tertiary studies and careers. Since most school students, female students in particular, have only a vague idea of what “engineering” is, various misconceptions about engineering begin forming at a young age. Corrective action in later years is difficult because it may be too late. Thus, Robogals exists to address this issue by introducing “engineering” into students’ vocabulary at a young age, showing that engineering and technology are engaging through hands on workshops and activities, demonstrating how engineering improves lives, and providing positive engineer role models.
