Penn State Club Curling was founded originally as Curling at Penn State in 2018. In 2023, Curling at Penn State split into two organizations: Penn State Club Curling (PSCC) and Nittany Recreational Curling League (NRCL). PSCC represents the competition team that travels across the United States to play in the USA College Curling circuit, a branch of USA Curling.
With over 20 members, we represent the largest group of college curlers in the United States. PSCC has competed at three national championships (2022, 2023, 2024) and has qualified for four (including the cancelled 2020 Nationals). In both 2022 and 2024, Penn State won the esteemed "Spirit of Curling" Award at Nationals in recognition of outstanding skill and sportsmanship in the sport. In 2024, Penn State ended the regular season as #1 in America via the college rankings.
PSCC frequently travels for collegiate-level bonspiels during the academic year. The typical competition season runs October-March, with the potential for competing in smaller events in the later spring. During the 2023-2024, we competed in 68 games (draws) across all bonspiels! We frequently send multiple teams to events, so there are plenty of opportunities to compete with us.
The sport of curling is growing at Penn State, and we would love to have you contact us if you are interested in either competing with the team or trying curling out for the first time. PSCC and NRCL officers hold Learn-to-Curl sessions at the start of the fall and spring semesters. Come check out the best sport on ice!
