Nittany Motorsports provides its members opportunities to gain broader insight into the engineering and business professions by sponsoring various automotive-related activities and competitions. The University Park chapter only consists of the Formula SAE/Formula Student competition, run and organized out of the basement of the Sackett Building. Nittany Motorsports is a student-run design team tasked with designing and prototyping a formula-style racecar for the annual Formula SAE/Formula Student competitions. At these competitions, teams from all over the world are judged in both static and dynamic events including cost of production, ergonomics, investment, acceleration, skidpad, autocross, and an endurance race. The competition provides students with an opportunity to apply their engineering, design, and communication skills in a professional setting.
