The Purdue Student Chapter of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (SCACVP), also known as Path Club, provides veterinary students with exciting opportunities to explore veterinary diseases and the changes they cause in animals. Path Club makes pathology relevant to all veterinary students, not just those interested in pathology as a career choice. Throughout the year, chapter meetings highlight the many areas of pathology with guest lecturers, wet labs, and other educational workshops. These activities allow students to gain experience with various diagnostic techniques, to explore actual clinical and anatomical pathology cases, and to gain a greater understanding of disease pathogenesis. Students have the opportunity to attend bimonthly gross necropsy rounds led by the anatomic pathologists and residents. Club activities also highlight the variety of career paths in veterinary pathology. There are limitless opportunities within the field of veterinary pathology, whether in academia, government, pharmaceutical industry, or as a consultant. The Purdue SCACVP invites speakers from many different backgrounds to provide students valuable in-formation about these unique career opportunities.
