We, African students at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, aim to foster a community dedicated to the enhancement of the graduate experience for people of the African diaspora. Our specific purpose include:Exposing African cultures, traditions, and values to the University communityProviding a forum for the discussion of issues critical to members of AGSA that concern the continent of Africa, in addition to facilitating cultural exchange between membersTo organize social get-togethers/gatherings to build a sense of camaraderie among AGSA membersProviding academic and professional opportunities that foster connections between AGSA members and the African continent, while creating new opportunities in both directionsActing as a resource for undergraduate students who are interested in graduate school, particularly African undergraduates and undergraduates of African descentCollaborating with other organizations that share similar interests when and if necessary and/or beneficial for either partyFacilitating outreach and service to communities of African ancestry and abroad
