The main objective of the Black Undergraduate Medical Association (BUMA) is to develop an open, progressive community for Black students who aspire to become professionals in the fields of health and medicine at the undergraduate level. We promote and supply educational opportunities for students to learn about different aspects of health and medicine from the perspective of the Black community. We also provide students on the medical and health tracks with the necessary tools to prepare for the transition into medical or professional school programs. We highlight scholastic achievements by supporting students through their academic endeavors and personal development. We also aim to build strong, healthy relationships with health and medical professionals, current medical students at the University of Michigan, and local high school students to increase opportunities in mentorship, research, career, etc.
