The University of Michigan Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corp (ROTC)—known as the Wolverine Battalion—is an elective military program based on the Ann Arbor campus offered to undergraduate and graduate students. Our storied battalion traces its origin to 1917 and has since continued to provide a transformative opportunity for all of the leaders and best: we seek to cultivate personal mastery in physical fitness, critical thinking, and effective leadership in an environment that promotes camaraderie and scholarship. Our mission is to prepare UMich students to become officers in the U.S. Army upon graduation. Any student, however, may enroll in the program and receive the same quality of training and professional development with no expectation to commission as an Army officer upon graduation. There are also opportunities to earn 2, 3, and 4 year scholarships for those applicable.
