KISEM is an organization that has built a platform for an array of beneficiaries, which aid the adaptation process for incoming students, stimulate a deeper understanding of the Korean culture, and serve as a primary representative of Emory University in Korea. We offer a means for new Korean international students to quickly familiarize with the school environment and settings here, and promote communication through the platform that incorporates both returning and incoming student body. We overlook various organizations under our supervision, such as KISEM SOCCER, KISEM BASKETBALL, Emory Code Zero and many others. These clubs are either involved in Emory’s Intramural Leagues, participate in intercollegiate events, or serve for the community by reaching outside the campus boundaries. We not only foster our incoming students to get involved through our network and match them with reliable mentors, but also promote experiences available anywhere on campus. This fall, we have launched the Buddy Program that ties a Korean student to anyone in the area of his or her interest, whether that be Pre-Health curriculum, Goizueta Business School, community service, Greek housing, or club sports. In Korea, we have voluntarily served as the ambassadors of Emory, hoping to relay accurate and realistic accounts of experience available on campus. In the recent months, we provided a comprehensive information about our institution that has further publicized Emory University to future admissions candidates and their parents. We are currently expanding our systematic and fully-functioning platform that facilitates communication between Emory and Korea, between the current students and the alumni network, and between KISEM and the rest of the school community. We are proud to reveal that the Freshman Welcoming Night and the Information Session for Emory Parents were a huge success this past summer, especially with the presence of Dean Nair and the assistance from the Emory Alumni Association. We aim to continue to serve as responsible representatives as well as liable ambassadors on behalf of Emory University, presented to the students and their parents alike. With support of the College Council in recognizing us a chartered organization, we hope to extend our reach to prospect students who dream of pursuing studies here at Emory.
