Underrepresentation of disability among doctors as well as inequity in care for patients with disabilities must be acknowledged as social justice issues in the field of medicine. Aligning with Emory University School of Medicine’s objective to train clinicians who “provide the highest quality compassionate care, and who will serve the needs of their community”, medical students must be educated with persons of all abilities in mind. Additionally, students of all abilities deserve to be supported in their medical training.
