The purpose of this mentoring program is to connect each incoming student (both first-year students and incoming transfer students) with a peer and a professional staff mentor. The peer mentor role will be fulfilled by the Student Success Mentor. The professional staff mentor will be fulfilled by the Neighborhood Directors.Student Success Mentors will assist incoming first-year and transfer students in their transition to MSU by providing support and resources. Student Success Mentors will engage with incoming students through weekly social activities, weekly student success chats, monthly one-on-one check-ins, and ongoing group messaging.Student Success Mentors will support our incoming first-year and incoming transfer students in navigating the transition to MSU by offering assistance and guidance with academic and social adjustments, connecting to resources, educating about and modeling success behaviors, fostering relationships between students and building a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful community with new students.Your Spartan’s success is at the center of everything we do.
