The Michigan State Student Investment Association is a premier undergraduate organization that was founded in 2004. The Association's mission is to improve our members' fundamental understanding of value investing; provide hands-on experiences by managing our student-run portfolio; and prepare students for personal and professional success in the financial industry.Throughout the year, the Student Investment Association hosts guest speakers to discuss their experiences in investment banking, equity research, private equity, sales and trading, and venture capital. Additionally, Social mixers are hosted throughout the year to help our members network and build relationships that last beyond the barriers of graduation. Annually, The Student Investment Association attends roadshows to financial centers, such as New York City, Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco, and LA. This opportunity provides our members with the ability to network and interact with industry professionals, gaining a deeper insight of the job functions and responsibilities.Select members will have the chance to collaborate with a team, to pitch and advise companies for our student-managed portfolio. Each team will have analysts that work under a lead analyst to create and present a comprehensive stock pitch to the Association at the end of the semester. The portfolio management team will oversee our current portfolio, and vote on the new pitches to make final investment decisions.The goal of the Student Investment Association is to bring together a group of like-minded students with common interests and act as a resource to students pursuing a career in financial services.
