MissionThe Astronomical Society at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is focused around a love of the sky we observe and our vast universe. Our main purpose is to educate the students of the University and the members of the C-U community about the wondrous night sky! We are the sole RSO of the University where students can get access to telescopes and get trained on our dome telescope to make the most out of the wonders of astronomy.Membership BenefitsMembers of UIAS have the opportunity to be trained on our 128-year-old telescope at the UI Observatory. Members also have the ability to travel with the club to Dark Sites, camping grounds, and to participate in EOH and other campus events. Members will have voting rights to select the Executive Board at the end of every academic year.
