Mission At CLAS, learning is our middle name: we help students understand course concepts; we engage students in the learning process; we guide students toward discovering solutions to problems; we encourage students to become independent thinkers and lifelong learners.
What does this mean?
We DON'T lecture, tell students what they should be doing, tell students what they should know by now, explain the how without the why, and stay stagnant.
We DO ask a LOT of questions, get students talking to us and to each other, reinforce when students are doing something well, provide encouragement and strategies when students are struggling, and pursue our own growth alongside our students.
CLAS as a program is growing and evolving with the introduction of hybrid elements to our model. We have more modes of accessibility than ever before, and we are working to fine-tune them according to student feedback.
Listen to students. Tell us what they are worried about, what they are struggling with, what they are asking for. Tell us also where they are thriving, and where they are benefiting. Tell us what ideas you have for how we can better meet their needs, and how we can better meet yours.
At the end of the day, CLAS is us. It's what we're doing, and what we're trying to do better.
