Mission Lambda Pi Eta (LPE) is an honor society for four-year colleges and universities established by the National Communication Association. Founded in 1985, Lambda Pi Eta was created in order to recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in the study of Communication, to stimulate interest in the discipline through promoting and encouraging developments in the field, to establish closer relationships between faculty and students, and to explore options for graduate education in the field of Communication.
The name Lambda Pi Eta represents what Aristotle described in 'The Rhetoric' as the three modes of persuasion: Logos, Pathos and Ethos. Lambda Pi Eta's official colors are crimson, to represent the communication discipline, and silver, to recognize speech and oratory skills.
