Mission Our mission as an organization is to create a welcoming and safe space for students interested in Japanese American culture to engage with the Japanese American community both on and off campus.
Membership Benefits The Nikkei Student union is a multicultural organization. Even though its focus is on Japanese/Japanese-American culture, the membership is not limited to Japanese/Japanese-Americans, and encourages the active participation of people regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, color, age, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship, physical or mental ability, marital status, financial status, social status, or gender. In accordance with Title IX, no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. All members of the Nikkei Student union must be UCSB students, staff, or faculty members and have paid membership dues for the year.
