American Marketing Association, UT Collegiate Chapter
Academic
Texas AMA the UT Austin chapter of the national American Marketing Association, from which our paid chapter members may take advantage of the organization’s student resources and programs, such as eligible participation in the AMA National Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a current McCombs student organization, Texas AMA ultimately is the premier space on the UT campus in which interested students may learn about how to market themselves “remarkably” and prepare for a profession in the marketing world. Our general meetings are our “Speaker Series” on Tuesdays from 6-7 pm, in which we host a variety of marketing professionals across industries to share their own experiences and advice about preparing for a marketing-oriented profession. In addition to these networking opportunities, we strive to provide our members with opportunities to obtain real hands-on marketing experience through our FCOM program and Consulting Agency. FCOM, which stands for Finance, Consulting, Operations, and Marketing, is an introductory program for new members, most especially freshmen, to gain an early, thorough introduction to Marketing and its intersection with other important sectors of the business world. Members apply to the FCOM program in the fall semester and participate in a series of specialized workshops curated by our FCOM Director. Our most popular program is the Consulting Agency - an 8-9 month long program starting in the fall semester in which accepted members work in teams assigned to real company clients who provide each of them with a marketing task to solve. For the duration of the program, agency teams prepare a marketing campaign project for their clients, which they present for competitive judging in the spring semester at our own Spring Marketing Showcase Conference.
