Habitat For Humanity launched at The University of Texas in 1989. We are a student-led organization dedicated to supporting the mission of Habitat for Humanity International. We do this in four ways: Service: Through our partnership with Austin Habitat, we participate in regular workdays to build, decent, affordable housing for families that qualify. Advocacy: We strive to increase awareness of the problem of substandard housing and to call people to action to initiate change. Fundraising: We consistently work toward sponsorship of a Habitat home here in Austin, and donate funds to Habitat for Humanity International. Education: By raising awareness on campus and in the Austin community, we strive to promote the Habitat mission of eliminating poverty housing. Our ultimate goal is to eliminate poverty housing nationally and globally. Our group maintains a focus on volunteerism and fundraising, helping to buy the materials needed to build a house and providing the labor necessary to put it together.
