The purpose of the student chapters of HAP is to encourage and promote unity among pharmacy students with common interests, values, and backgrounds. HAP provides a student support network on a social level aimed at achieving academic excellence while balancing a friendly, relaxed, and entertaining atmosphere outside of the classroom. HAP will focus on service projects throughout the year to educate, assist, and support Hispanic culture through health care and community development.The organization at large strives to promote education services for the Hispanic community. It also provides a network of Hispanic pharmacy professional mentors for students. The organization will develop research methods and maintain documentation to better understand Hispanic use of medicines.
Mission:
To promote unity among pharmacy students with common interest, values, and backgrounds; thus, to support one another and the profession in general.
To strive for excellent scholarship via peer tutoring and counseling concerning academic problems.
To exchange information regarding professional career opportunities and/or postgraduate education.To conduct fundraising activities to provide scholarship for members and contributions to projects sponsored by the organization.To organize education programs regarding contemporary political issues affecting the practice of pharmacy and health care delivery systems.To participate in community services involving health care education.To assist in the recruitment and retention of qualified students, mainly serving as role models to high school and pre-pharmacy students.To provide a center for the exchange and/or loaning textbooks, journals, articles, and other professional literature.To support the College of Pharmacy in every way possible; to promote its academic excellence and public relations.To celebrate the foregoing objectives as actual accomplishments, some social function should be in order either annually or every semester.
