Ignite Texas is a four-day retreat for incoming freshmen and transfer students who are looking to find Christian community in Austin. With a band and speaker, small group time, and fun camp traditions, the retreat not only provides students with friends and community before arriving to campus, but also gives them the tools they need to seek spiritual growth during their time at UT. Our purpose is to glorify the Lord by serving incoming students and showing them their first glimpse of the body of Christ at the University of Texas. At retreat, the Ministry Fair introduces campers to many churches and Christian organizations in Austin, allowing them to see God’s influence both on campus and in the city. Founded in September 2002, Ignite Texas was created as a model of the mission statement for a retreat called "Impact" at Texas A&M University. Every August since the foundation of Ignite, the staff has served by outreaching to incoming students through the unity of the body of Christ. The name "Ignite" represents the organization’s purpose: to ignite the hearts of freshmen to seek God during their college career. [Philippians 1:9-11, 1 Corinthians 12:12, 1 Timothy 4:7-8]
