POPS is an established student organization that works to inform University of Texas at Austin students about the field of optometry. We encourage strong relationships between students and optometrists and provide hands-on experience for vision care through shadowing and volunteering opportunities. Our members are active participants at our school and in our community and are very engaged in the field of optometry.
Each year, we invite optometry school representatives and local optometrists to speak at our meetings. Each fall semester, we host a Student-Doctor conference to provide students a one-on-one opportunity to speak with several different optometrists. We also take a trip to San Antonio to visit The Rosenberg School of Optometry. In the spring, we attend the Texas Optometric Association Convention here in Austin. We also take a trip to Houston every spring to attend the Spring Conference, hosted by University of Houston POPS, and Optometry Day, hosted by the University of Houston College of Optometry.Come out to a meeting and learn what POPS and the field of optometry are all about!http://www.texaspops.org/
