The members of Senate value the opportunities the University of Texas at Austin has to offer, and strives to publicize, expand, and improve them for the students on the 40 acres. Senate deals with issues like plus/minus grading, teacher evaluations, study abroad, core curriculum streams, advising, and tuition regulation, all at a hands-on level. The Senate of College Councils is divided up into eight committees: Academic Enrichment, Academic Policy, Engagement and Outreach, Community Advocacy, Faculty Affairs, Fundraising, Recruitment and Retention, and Undergraduate Research. These committees focus on various aspects of academic affairs and work with college councils to write legislation, host events, and meet with faculty and staff to enact visions.
