The NYUGSOM Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group is a chapter of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, the medical professional society for physicians and other professionals dedicated to clinical and worksite practice of lifestyle medicine (LM) as the foundation of a transformed and sustainable health care system. Practice involves the use of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as eating a predominantly whole food, plant-based diet, getting regular physical activity, adequate sleep, managing stress, avoiding use of risky substances and pursuing other non-drug modalities, to treat, reverse, and prevent chronic disease. General Objectives of the Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group: - Foster a space for students, faculty, and professionals who are interested in LM for connecting and professional advancement - Promote healthier lifestyles in the NYUGSOM community and local community through LM education and activities - Establish or improve LM curriculum at NYU Grossman through advocacy.
