Thai Students Association had its humble beginnings in 2000 and was started by P'Warut and Thongchai. Noticing the lack of a Thai community for students in New York, they sought the advice of a few graduate students and decided to form Thai-SA. The main purpose of Thai-SA was to establish an organization to bring the entire Thai student community together at NYU, reach out to other students interested in Thailand, and to promote the Thai culture all around campus. Within the first year, membership rose to nearly 60-70 people with the majority as graduate students and a little over fifty percent were Thai. A few years later, Thai Students Association took a hiatus, but we're back! The mission statement since the start has changed very little since our founding -- Thai-SA serves to create a unified fellowship among the Thai student community and to promote the Thai culture to the entire student body.
